The Mates Way is our flagship 12-week program that helps young people with disabilities build confidence, independence, and real friendships — all through fun, structured community experiences.

Because Everyone Deserves a Crew

Real progress
not just filled hours.

Loneliness and isolation are common among young people with disability — but it doesn’t have to be that way. At Support Mates, we create opportunities for organic, lasting connection. We do this by creating squads that stay consistent, activities that are truly social, and an environment where everyone is supported to show up as themselves.

Consistent Crews

Small, stable squads that help friendships grow over time

Meaningful Moments

Shared experiences that spark natural connection

Age-Aligned Groups

Activities matched by age and vibe so everyone feels they belong

Mentorship That Matters

Support workers who mentor, model, and guide interactions

Personalised Social Goals

Tracked and celebrated each week

Safe & Supportive Spaces

Zero judgment, low-pressure environment where mates can be themselves

No Roleplay.
Just Real Life.

We don’t teach social skills in a classroom — we embed them in everyday experiences. Whether it’s ordering food, playing group games, or planning a squad outing, mates practise communication, empathy, turn-taking, and teamwork in ways that feel natural and enjoyable.

Sample Social Skill-Building Moments:

🥤 Ordering food or drinks during a café visit

🧩 Playing team-based games like bowling or trivia

🚌 Navigating transport or outings together

📅 Planning the week’s activities with your squad

🎉 Celebrating birthdays and milestones as a group

💬 Reflecting on challenges and wins with your support team
